GlobalFest ended with a bang as thousands of people came out to enjoy the spectacular grand finale fireworks show helmed by GlobalFest 2011′s own Fireworks Festival Director, Alain Carbonneau. It was held as a special thanks to participating nations and the family and friends of GlobalFest.

On the OneWorld stage, Diane Wensel, Director of Marketing for The Calgary Sun and the Team Leader of the GlobalFest judges announced that the Philippines made a clean sweep winning all three of the People’s Choice Award categories. The Philippines won the award for Favourite Pyromusical Performance, designed by Robert Bahisan of Platinum Fireworks, Inc., Favourite Cultural Pavilion, and Favourite Ethnic Food Booth (Ihaw Ihaw). Votes were cast over the span of a week by festival-goers that logged onto The Calgary Sun website. The winner of the Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival was Italy.

The 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition will open at the SM Mall of Asia. An annual event that showcases never-before-seen fireworks from different countries.

What a splendid scene!The annual “Macau International Fireworks Display Contest” not only lights up the nights of Macau, but also the hearts of spectators. Local residents long for the marvelous fireworks displays that add a joyous atmosphere to holidays and festivals. The Contest has also become an annual characteristic of Macau. Many visitors specially choose this time of the year to come to Macau to enjoy an exotic and romantic holiday.

A visually spectacular event, this contest, now in its 23rd run, attracts over 100 teams internationally, competing for the top honour. Many visitors specifically choose this period of time to travel to Macau so as to catch the entries of all the teams during the night shows and enjoy the creativity and splendor displayed in the skies.

An annual competition held since 1989, it has grown tremendously in scale over the years and pays tribute to the huge firecracker industry- one of the original 3 crafts in Macau. As the number of participating teams have increased, the night shows have become increasingly elaborate, and the vision for this contest is to project the world’s most outstanding fireworks displays.
